Sports
Ministry and The Church
This is a foundational seminar that establishes a biblical and
philosophical apologetic for a church-based sports ministry. In
addition, this seminar addresses the organizational and administrative
procedures for starting a sports ministry including the recruiting
and training of lay leaders. Finally, this seminar takes a look
at the different ways a sports ministry can contribute to the
evangelistic and discipleship
goals of a church. [to top] |
Competition
and Christianity
Can a Christian be involved in competitive athletics? How competitive
can a Christian be? Does God really care about sports? Does God
really care who wins or loses? Is your Opponent your Enemy? These
and other tangential issues are discussed from a biblical perspective
in order to declare the latitude a Christian has to be involved
passionately in sports . . . for the glory of God and not himself.
Careful examination will be made of concepts such as "competition,"
"winning," "losing," and "opponent"
in order that the Christian athlete can understand what it means
to become all that he or she can be. . . athletically and spiritually. [to

Shepherd
Coach Training Seminar
In an attempt to train lay persons to coach sports teams, this
seminar promotes the concept of becoming a "Shepherd Coach."
The Shepherd Coach is someone who takes responsibility for the
spiritual as well as the athletic progress of the "flock"
over which God has placed him or her in charge. The seminar is
designed to establish a biblical philosophy of ministry and to
stimulate the shepherd coach with godly motivation for involvement,
as well as the practical training to lead spiritually (prayer,
discipleship, evangelism)
as well as athletically (coaching strategies and techniques). [to

Sports
Ministry Planning Seminar
This is designed to be an "interactive" seminar in order
to launch a sports ministry. The purpose of this seminar is to
take lay leaders who have already been recruited and to work with
them in establishing a mission statement, determining goals, and
identifying the sports ministry program. Another goal will be
to create "action plans" so that after the seminar the
progression to actually launching the sports ministry is clear
and ready to be implemented. A brief biblical apologetic is followed
by examining a philosophical platform,
and then leadership roles and responsibilities are articulated. [to

Sports
Ministry and Missions
While a sports ministry can contribute to the churchs work
locally, the church has a global mission which can be impacted
by that same sports ministry. This seminar is designed to examine
the potential that a sports ministry has to reach into international
mission fields. Under discussion will be the development of "outreach"
(evangelistic) teams that are sent out from the church into the
community and from the community to an ever widening sphere .
. . even to distant mission fields. The seminar will answer questions
such as: "Who Should Go?,""Where Should We Go?,"
and "How Should We Prepare to Go?" as well as the organizational
and administrative issues of sending
and receiving a ministry/missions team. [to

Seminars
to Meet Specific Needs of Any Church
CSI is prepared to "package" any of the above information
into a seminar that is customized for a specific churchs
needs. Please contact the CSI office to discuss how the different
topics can be arranged to meet your specific needs. CSI is also
prepared to teach seminars on specific topics (whether they are
listed in the above information, or not). For example, if you
would want a seminar or workshop topic focused on evangelism or
"evangelistic sports camps and clinics," "evaluation
for the sake of improving your ministry," "sports ministry
budgeting and finances," "administrating a league,"
"launching a sports ministry," "obstacles to sports
ministry and how to overcome them," that can be arranged
as well. [to top] |
